A Divine Abode of Maa Rajballavi – Where Devotion Meets Blessings

Rajballavi Mata temple one of the famous devotional place in Hooghly district in a village called Rajbalhat under Gram Panchayet Rajbolhat II  in the Jangipara CD Block.  A traditional local proverb describes the village structure: “Char chak, chodda para, tin ghat; ei neye Rajbalhat” (Four crossings, fourteen localities, and three bathing ghats).

Rajbalhat, a census town in Hooghly district, was the 16th-century capital of the prosperous Bhursut (Bhurishrestha) kingdom, which extended across parts of Howrah and Hooghly and renowned as a hub for silk, handloom, and terracotta art.

Divine Land of Rajbalhat

Once, the sacred land of Rajbalhat was a dense forest and a spiritual cremation ground (Samshan), filled with divine energy. This भूमि was destined to become a holy place where Maa herself would reveal her presence and bless her devotees.

Maa Appears in Human Form

It is believed that Maa Rajballavi came to earth in the form of a humble Brahmin girl, living among the villagers. Though she appeared ordinary, her divine aura was hidden, waiting for the right moment to reveal her true शक्ति.

The Divine Revelation

Around 800 years ago, Raja Sadananda Roy arrived with his fleet of boats. As the young girl stepped onto the boats, they began to sink one after another. Realizing this was no ordinary घटना, the king understood that she was the divine Maa herself and surrendered at her feet.

Establishment of the Sacred Temple

Blessed with Maa’s divine vision, Raja Sadananda was guided to establish her temple at this holy place. Thus, the temple of Maa Rajballavi was built, and since then, Rajbalhat has become a sacred dham where Maa continues to shower her blessings on all who come with faith and devotion.
